The Weepies

8th May 2018 - Tuesday 20:00

The Weepies, Massachusetts' sensational indie and folk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Crescent Ballroom!

The Weepies was formed in Cambridge (Massachusetts) in 2001 and is a husband-and-wife duo consisting of singer/songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie folk (a style that arose in the 1990s - among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music - and is characterized by a blend of acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation), folk rock (a style that arose in the United States and the United Kingdom around the mid 1960s, pioneered by the Los Angeles band the Byrds, who began playing traditional folk music and songs by Bob Dylan with rock instrumentation, in a style heavily influenced by the Beatles and other British bands), and adult alternative pop/rock (a branch of alternative rock - emerging after the genre's absorption into the mainstream – featuring a smooth, melodic, radio friendly style that packages alternative's mellower side for wider consumption). They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 9 singles, 5 music videos, and their work has been featured in Sex and the City, Morning Glory, Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs, One Tree Hill, and in many other films and TV shows.
