Julien Baker, Tennessee's sensational alternative rock artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Crescent Ballroom!
Julien Rose Baker was born in Memphis (Tennessee) in 1995 and is a singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist (electric guitar, piano, and mandolin). She began her musical journey by learning to play the guitar and she honed her craft by playing in a high school band. Her musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), ambient (a style of gentle, largely electronic instrumental music with no persistent beat, used to create or enhance a mood or atmosphere), and indie folk (a style that arose in the 1990s - among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music - and is characterized by a blend of acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation). She's had a stellar career 1, studio album, 1 live album, 3 singles, and she's been the opening act for many renowned bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Conor Oberst, The Decemberists, Belle and Sebastian, and Paramore. Her latest album (Turn Out the Lights) comes out on 27th October 2017.
