Coast Modern, California's sensational indie artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Crescent Ballroom!
Coast Modern was formed in Los Angeles in 2013 and is a duo consisting of guitarist and songwriter Luke Atlas along with vocalist and multi instrumentalist (drums and piano) Coleman Trapp. While their musical style can be broadly classified as electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music - with primary usage of synthesizers and various electronic and pop musical instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of electronic dance music genres in that songwriting is emphasized over simple danceability), it also includes elements of hip hop, indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), and psychedelic pop (a style in which musical characteristics associated with psychedelic music are applied to pop songs - this includes "trippy" effects such as fuzz guitars, tape manipulation, sitars, backwards recording, and Beach Boys style harmonies). They've had a stellar career with 7 singles, 1 mix tape, 1 studio album, and they've toured with BØRNS, The Temper Trap, and The Wombats.
