Benjamin Sainte-Clémentine was born in London (England) in 1988 and is a poet, vocalist, multi instrumentalist, composer, and record producer. His musical style is best described as a blend of avant garde (a form of music that is considered to be at the forefront of experimentation or innovation for its critique of existing aesthetic conventions, rejection of the status quo in favor of unique or original elements, and its intention to challenge or alienate audiences), experimental pop (a genre that attempts to push the boundaries of existing pop music by incorporating experimental techniques such as musique concrète, aleatoric music, eclecticism, and electronic production effects), and contemporary classical (a genre that started in the mid 1970s to early 1990s and includes modernist, postmodern, neoromantic, and pluralist music). He cites Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, Leonard Cohen, Leo Ferré, Nina Simone, Jake Thackray, Jimi Hendrix, Serge Gainsbourg, Aretha Franklin, Lucio Dalla, Giacomo Puccini as some of his main influences. He’s had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 2 extended plays, 8 singles, and he's collaborated with the English virtual band Gorillaz. He's also won a Mercury Music Prize and the New York Times included him on its list of the 28 geniuses who defined culture in 2016.
